Minister Adrian Oros met His Excellency David Saranga, Ambassador of the State of Israel in Bucharest

On February 20th 2020, Adrian Oros, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, welcomed at the institution's premises His Execellency David Saranga, Ambassador of the State of Israel. The Minister was accompanied by the Secretary of State George Scarlat, the General Director of the Directorate-General for Foreign Affairs and International Relations, as well as Foreign Affairs advisers.

The Israeli delegation included also the economic attaché of the Israel State Mission, Bareket Knafo. The discussions focused on the collaboration between Romania and Israel, mainly in the field of irrigation, control of desertification in the light of the expertise held by the State of Israel. His Execellency David Saranga expressed his willingness to exchange information during visits made by experts, both in the State of Israel and in Romania in the coming period. In turn, Minister Adrian Oros underlined that he wants to take concrete steps in this collaboration, being well known that in Israel innovative solutions have been identified in agriculture and performance has been achieved, although agricultural land and freshwater resources are extremely limited.

In order to boost trade between Romania and Israel in agriculture, given the existing potential, HE David Saranga specified that it is necessary the fostering of the discussions in order to simplify in Romania the procedure for authorizing kosher slaughterhouses, as an option for the sale of live animals.

The Embassy of the State of Israel in Bucharest, through the Economic and Commercial Service, which is an extension of the Israeli ministry with responsibilities in the economic field, requested a list of medium-term priorities of the Romanian agricultural sector so that during the specialized events that take place in our country to identify companies to provide expertise. One of the events of interest to the Israeli side is the INDAGRA international fair.

Also, Minister Adrian Oros mentioned Romania's efforts to obtain the status of part of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, in this regard the ambassador emphasized the support of the State of Israel for this goal.

At the end of the meeting, HE David Saranga expressed his wish to start successful projects together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
